Every Edmonton business owner eventually asks the same question: how much should a website cost? The answer depends on who you ask, and most agencies would rather not say until they’ve got you on a call.
Here’s the honest breakdown.
What Edmonton web design agencies typically charge
Talk to five agencies in Edmonton and you’ll get five different answers. But the ranges are consistent enough to map out:
- Template-based sites (1–3 pages): $500–$2,000
- Custom small business sites (5–7 pages): $3,000–$8,000
- Full custom with branding (8+ pages): $8,000–$20,000+
On top of the build, most agencies sell SEO as a separate $1,200–$3,000/month retainer. Some charge monthly “licensing” or “platform” fees after launch. Some hold the code hostage if you leave.
The range is wide because you’re paying for different things. A $500 site from a freelancer on Fiverr and a $15,000 site from a downtown agency are not the same product. But a $15,000 price tag doesn’t automatically mean better results for a local business either.
What actually matters for a small business website
Before you compare quotes, know what you’re shopping for. A website for a local Edmonton business needs to do three things:
- Show up in search. When someone Googles “electrician Edmonton” or “best dentist near me,” your site needs to appear. That means proper SEO built into the code, not bolted on later.
- Look credible on a phone. Over 60% of local searches happen on mobile. If your site doesn’t load fast and look clean on a phone, people bounce.
- Make it easy to contact you. Phone number, email, contact form, location. Visible. Not buried three clicks deep.
Everything else — animations, custom illustrations, video backgrounds — is nice but secondary. A fast, clean, well-structured site that ranks on Google will outperform a flashy site that doesn’t.
What we charge (published pricing)
We publish our pricing because we think you should know what a website costs before you pick up the phone. Three tiers:
Launch — from $499
1–3 pages. Mobile-responsive. SEO and AEO included. Structured data, fast hosting setup. One revision round.
Right for a brand-new Edmonton business that needs to be online before the first customer walks in. Upgrades to Grow when revenue allows.
Grow — from $1,499
5–7 pages. Content support, local SEO setup, light brand polish. Two revision rounds.
Right for most established Edmonton businesses — restaurants, clinics, trades, retail, salons. This is our recommended starting point.
Bespoke — $5,000–$10,000
8+ pages. Full custom design, brand guidelines, advanced integrations, AEO content blocks. Three months of post-launch SEO included.
Right for established companies that need to look as polished as they actually are.

What’s included that other agencies charge extra for
Every tier includes:
- SEO foundations. Meta tags, semantic HTML, fast load times, mobile optimization, structured data markup, internal linking. Most agencies charge $1,200–$3,000/month for this as a separate service. We build it into the site.
- AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). Schema.org markup, llms.txt, AI bot access in robots.txt, FAQ blocks formatted for LLM citation. This is how your business shows up in ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity answers. More on AEO.
- Full ownership on launch. The code, the content, the domain — all yours. No proprietary platform, no licensing fees, no lock-in. If you want to take the site to another developer, you can.
Hidden costs to watch for
When comparing quotes from Edmonton agencies, ask about:
- Monthly platform fees. Some agencies build on proprietary platforms and charge $50–$200/month just to keep the site live. We don’t.
- SEO as a separate retainer. If SEO isn’t included in the build, expect to pay $1,200–$3,000/month on top. We include the foundations; ongoing SEO management starts at $300/month for clients who want it.
- Revision limits. Some agencies cap revisions at one round, then bill $100+/hour. Check the contract.
- Content creation. Most agencies expect you to provide all the copy. If you don’t have it, they charge extra or the site launches with placeholder text.
- Code ownership. Ask directly: “Do I own the code when the site launches?” If the answer is anything other than yes, keep shopping.
How long does a website take?
Our timelines:
- Launch and Grow: 2–3 weeks from kickoff, once we have your content and brand details.
- Bespoke: 4–8 weeks depending on scope, integrations, and brand work.
The biggest delay is almost always content. If you have your logo, your photos, and a rough idea of what you want to say, we move fast.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. We’re in Edmonton at 15020 116 Ave NW. Kickoff is usually in person — your office, a coffee shop, or our studio. Most clients run async after the first meeting because it’s faster, but the option is always there.
For Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, and Fort Saskatchewan, we drive out for larger Bespoke engagements.
The bottom line
A good website for an Edmonton small business costs between $499 and $10,000 depending on scope. You don’t need to spend $15,000 to get a site that ranks, looks professional, and converts visitors into customers. You need clean code, proper SEO, fast load times, and a design that builds trust.
