04 — The AI search era
AEO · AI Search
Answer Engine Optimization gets your business cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. When someone asks the AI "who's the best near me?", AEO is how you become the answer.
What AEO means
The six things most sites miss
- A hand-written llms.txt that AI crawlers read first
- Full Schema.org markup — machine-readable facts on every page
- Explicit AI-bot allows (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended)
- FAQ blocks formatted exactly the way LLMs extract and cite
- Entity disambiguation via sameAs links to your real profiles
- Comparison content LLMs cite for "X vs Y" and "best X in [city]"

FAQ
Common questions
Is AEO different from SEO?
SEO is for traditional Google results; AEO is for AI-generated answers. They share fundamentals but AEO needs specific elements — llms.txt, deep schema, AI-bot allows, and citation-formatted content — that traditional SEO ignores.
How do I know if my site is AEO-ready?
Ask ChatGPT "what does [your business] do?" If the answer is generic, missing, or wrong, you're not ready. The full version is our $499 audit.
Does this actually drive traffic?
A growing share of search happens inside AI assistants, and they cite only a few sources per answer. If you're not structured for them, you're invisible to that traffic.
